Silicon carbide fire brick is the heavy-duty material you need for non-ferrous metallurgy furnaces. When you melt copper or aluminum, the kiln environment is very harsh. You cannot use cheap materials.
1.Core SiC brick properties
First, let us look at the main silicon carbide fire brick properties. The basic SiC brick properties come from the hard grains we use.
In our factory, we press them very tight. This gives the block amazing silicon carbide brick high temperature strength. It will not crush under the heavy load of your metal inside the kiln.
Also, the silicon carbide brick working temperature is very high. Because of its strong silicon carbide brick temperature resistance, your furnace can run safely for a much longer time without the lining melting down.
2.Heat transfer and thermal shock
In metal smelting, the heat goes up and down all the time. You must have good silicon carbide brick thermal shock resistance.
Our bricks do not crack easy when the temperature changes fast, mostly because of the low silicon carbide brick thermal expansion.
Another big point is the silicon carbide refractory brick thermal conductivity. High silicon carbide brick thermal conductivity means heat moves through the wall fast.
This helps cool the furnace walls or heat the load, saving your fuel cost. We test the properties of silicon carbide bricks in our lab to make sure this heat transfer is stable.
3.Stopping slag and wear
Liquid metal and slag eat normal bricks fast. So, we make our blocks with top silicon carbide brick corrosion resistance.
The liquid metal cannot penetrate the tight surface of our bricks. Also, solid materials rub the kiln lining a lot when you load. You need high silicon carbide brick wear resistance. Our firebrick stays hard like stone, stopping the wearing out.
Of course, not every part of the furnace needs SiC. For some roof or backup zones, you can use our high alumina furnace bricks or high purity silica bricks to save your project cost.
