Silica-mullite Fire Brick
Silicon-mullite brick, also known as silicon carbide-mullite composite refractory brick, is commonly called wear-resistant brick or HMS high-wear-resistant brick. “Silicon” represents silicon carbide (SiC), and “mullite” represents mullite (3Al₂O₃・2SiO₂), belonging to modified high-alumina sintered refractory materials.
- Main raw materials: High-alumina bauxite clinker, silicon carbide particles, mullite fine powder, a small amount of binding clay, additives, and some formulations add andalusite to create silicon-mullite red bricks (with better thermal shock resistance).
- Production process: Batching and mixing → High-pressure molding → High-temperature sintering at 1400~1600℃ to form a dense composite crystalline structure.
- Main crystalline phases: Mullite is the framework matrix, and silicon carbide is the wear-resistant reinforcing phase.

1. Wear and erosion resistance far exceeds that of ordinary high-alumina bricks and phosphate bricks.

Cement Industry
Cement rotary kiln front transition zone, rear transition zone, decomposition zone, preheating zone, kiln mouth, and cooling zone; these areas lack stable kiln lining, experience significant erosion and wear, and are severely affected by alkali corrosion. This is the most typical application location for silica-mullite bricks, significantly extending kiln lining life by replacing traditional high-alumina bricks.
